Matthew 24: 15, 19 “And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey. After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them.”
Short as that passage may be, it holds the principles that many have ignored to their detriment. Many successful people that we celebrate today, understand these secrets and resolve in their heart to apply it. And if we, gifted with the talent of acting or any other gifts, will understand and live this truth, success is sure.
One thing you need to understand from the passage is that each one is given a talent according to his ability. Note the bible didn’t say according to God’s ability. This means that we are responsible for the number of talent that we have. God is obligated to increase our talent if we increase our ability.
In verse 30 of the same chapter, the Bible says:
“For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away.”
So, the first thing God looks at before answering your prayer is to prove your ability. He will only increase or answer your prayer based on the ability you have and not based on what you desire or ask. If what you ask is in tandem with your ability, He will surely answer you.
So, the question is, what effort are you making to increase your ability? How often do you read? What seminar, workshop, training, conference, etc., are you attending to increase your ability? If you haven’t been taking this seriously, please do.
Secondly, patience and faithfulness is key to becoming successful. Verse 19 says, After A LONG TIME the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them.
It takes patience to continue to read and grow in capacity when it seems nothing is really happening. After all the reading and efforts to get 10 talents, God may trust you first with 5 talents. He does that to see your faithfulness. If you’re not faithful in that 5 talents, you either get no more than the five talents or He takes even that which you have and gives it to another person that has proved to be faithful. That is why you must be patient. Don’t be in haste to get things. Don’t break any of God’s commandment just because you want to become famous, get money, or become influential.
Like someone said, your faithfulness is your report card to enter into your next level. Be faithful to the ministry God has given you. Be faithful in the role you’re given in the group you belong. Be faithful in the responsibility given you in church. Give your best. Even if it’s not your own ministry or your ultimate desire, be faithful as though it is your own and as if that’s all you will ever have.
Let me round off with this words: God’s LONG TIME can be a day or a year. The bible says a thousand years to God can be a day and a day to God can be a thousand years. Your level of faithfulness can accelerate your promotion to your next level.
